My fellow actor and friend LaVonna Miller invited me to opening night of "A Christmas Carol" at the Amundsen Theater on December 1, 2021. We were both vaccinated, but we had to wear masks to stay safe at the performance. We didn't mind as we were grateful that they had people checking our vaccination cards to make sure we and everybody else was vaccinated. Then they gave us little black wrist bands so we wouldn't be asked again. I believe that this was the first performance back at the Amundsen Theater after the shutdown, and after over a year of not being able to attend anything with our friends, wearing a mask for two hours was no big deal.

Outside, we didn't have to wear masks and there were some lovely places to take photos. It was a fun night. The performance was wonderful. And I'm so grateful to LaVonna for the invitation.

After reading this post about courage and change, I found myself reflecting on a moment when I considered using someone as my online exam takers because everything felt so overwhelming new formats, technology glitches, time zones colliding with deadlines. But then I thought: if I outsource that exam, what’s left of the growth, the struggle, the moment when I push past my limits and learn something real?
